Update from The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation

By Julie Hutchison | President, Co-Founder and Chelsea's Mother

Thank you for your support of this project for Helen and Goldie.  The grant has been paid and Helen and Goldie are working together now.

Helen's family reports that Goldie has become a very important and wonderful member of their family in a few short months. She is a constant companion to Helen, which gives Helen confidence and friendship. For her family, Goldie is another set of eyes on Helen for seizures. Goldie can sit through a 15 minute seizure with Helen instead of letting their dinner burn on the stove. Goldie sleeps with Helen for nighttime seizures. Goldie provides her family relief from the constant pressure of seizure care (Helen has 3-10 seizures each day) and gives Helen an extra sense of security, love, and safety.

We appreciate your continued support of our mission.  Our Mission is to grant comfort and hope to those affected by epilepsy through providing monitoring resources, vital information, and a safe haven for conversation and community. Our main goal is to raise awareness of SUDEP and to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals and families living with epilepsy.

We raise funds to provide education about SUDEP and to provide seizure response dog grants and movement monitors that help to protect against SUDEP.  We stay up-to-date on current trends in medical technology in order to be able to provide the most effective devices as they become available.

We respect the value and quality of life of every person living with epilepsy.

We are dedicated to providing opportunities that allow individuals and families greater independence, increased confidence, ability to enjoy social environments, and community understanding.
