SEDS can do all the good in the world but if we don't communicate it then it will be an unsustainable vision. Reaching out and attending tradeshows allows our organization to communicate the good we are doing, inspire others to join it and work locally, and provide opportunities for our students to develop professional skills. Attending shows is no vacation! SEDS student work hard preparing promotional materials, running the conferences, and networking with individuals while balancing school!
SEDS can best extend its mission to nationwide classrooms and education institutions by working with existing networks and organizations. To do this SEDS needs to explore, contact, and reach out to them. A tremendous amount of this networking and business making happens at national conferences. SEDS has previously been able to attend conferences by leveraging partnerships with fellow organizations and volunteering to run conferences but there is limited new business growth with this method.
SEDS has set a goal of attending 1-3 new trade shows a year while being able to provide support for additional students to attend. Trade shows have been identified and budgets put together to reach thousands of K-12 science teachers, industry representatives, and other potential partners. Helping additional students to attend will provide support for students to network with attendees and actually attend to the exhibit display (rather then run the conference!) and provide organization materials
We will educate 1000+ students across the US nation and work with our international partners to encourage the youth to take responsibility and initiative to develop a stronger tomorrow. While SEDS is an interest group that seeks to promote exploring and developing space, our best path forward can often come from unexpected directions; because of this the organization seeks to promote active leadership and involvement in fostering the debate of these topics, both among ourselves and the public.
