Summary

The Syrian Civil War has left millions of children without food and basic health services. What's more, they need emotional support deal with the effects of witnessing violence and being uprooted from homes. That's why we're raising.$3,500 which can be used to buy a set of toys and learning materials for 250 children in one of our Child-Friendly Spaces. Save the Children's programs help children overcome tragedy and cope with terrible losses faced by so many little girls and boys in Syria.

Challenge

The conflict in Syria, now well into its third year, is placing millions of children at risk. It is estimated that 5.1 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance inside Syria and over 2 million people have sought refuge in neighboring countries. Inside Syria, the daily violence affects hundreds of thousands of children, many of whom witness horrifying events.

Solution

Child-Friendly Spaces give children a sense of stability as well as an opportunity to play with other children. The spaces also provide respite for families under stress, so parents can rebuild their lives knowing their children are safe. They provide children with a comforting environment that helps them cope with the uncertainty around them. Our partners also train caregivers to help children showing signs of distress and provide support to extremely vulnerable children.

Long-Term Impact

Just $3,500 could buy a set of toys and learning materials for 250 children in one of our Child-Friendly Spaces. This includes toys, stationery, crayons, pencils, markers, recreational and sports materials and some basic refreshments for a month.
