Challenge

Orphans in Zimbabwe are in desperate need of a way to provide for themselves so that they can afford food, school fees, rent, clothes, and other necessities of life. With little or no training received by parents who died too young, this generation of children are left without the education they need to provide for themselves.

Solution

This project will provide 180 youth rabbits so they can start a business. Along with the rabbits, they will receive seeds and training on how to grow veggies for themselves and their animals. With husbandry, veterinary and budgeting training, they are well on their way to providing for themselves. Transportation and delivery of the animals, seeds and continued support are included, as well.

Long-Term Impact

As the children grow into adulthood, they will take with them the knowledge learned in their childhood of how to be animal farmers and they will be able to provide for themselves, not leaning on external funding to care for them. This is a project that will help generations to come, breaking the cycle of poverty in a country gripped by it.
