Johan is a lively and energetic 16 year-old who lost his leg due to an infection after undergoing corrective surgery for his feet. He though he would be getting a healthy foot and ended up losing his leg. With your help we can give him an artificial leg and the chance at a new life.
Johan is an 8th grader from a small town in the mountains of Colombia, he loves studying and helping his family. Johan was born with a genetic condition called genu valgum foot (extremely turned-in feet) which prevented him from walking normally, after years of saving his family finally could afford corrective surgery, but unfortunately Johan contracted an infection during surgery and had to have his leg amutated. Johan though he was going to be able to walk normally and instead he lost his leg.
Giving Johan a new prosthetic leg will give him the chance to walk again, go to school and continue with his life. His mom says that being amputated has not affected Johan's optimism but she is worried he can't go to school and will get depressed inside of the house with out being able to help. A new leg will not only bring him a new chance at life but hope for a better future for him and his family.
