Cambodian youth from poor families need to earn money to support themselves and at least part of their education costs as they approach 18 - 20 years old. With training and support from Empowering Youth Cambodia (EYC) these youth are able to make decisions on their early careers and make connections that significantly improve their ability to continue their education and get meaningful experience.
Employment for Cambodian youth from poor backgrounds that allows them the flexibility to continue their education, pays a livable wage, and provides experience for them to draw upon and climb in their careers.
Our team will provide marketable skills over the coming year including English language, computer, and soft skills training designed to improve their communication and leadership abilities as well as boost their confidence. As trainees reach an acceptable level they will be coached for job interviews and provided with leads. Our team has a track record of success with many success stories to date of youth working in high paying quality jobs and earning enough to pay for University education.
While Cambodia has easy opportunities for their "human resources" to take work in jobs such as garment factories ($80 per month), Empowering Youth Cambodia (EYC) students and alumni hold positions paying sometimes double those salaries for around half the number of hours, enabling them to study in university. Some of the EYC alumni who have now finished university are in demand in professional positions and have great career potential.
