Thulani (7 years) and Dumisani (10 years) are brother and sister and they live in the village called Sizeze in Sizeze. Small for their age due to malnutrition, they were overjoyed when the truck carrying the porridge you donated pulled up by their pastor’s house. They had been told that they'd be beneficiaries of a gift of fortified porridge and they were so excited!!
They live with their sickly grandmother who is 82 years old and, having struggled with one meal and wild fruits per day, they said “We feel overwhelmed by this gift that comes to us at a time when we were struggling. Schooling was difficult on an empty stomach, but now, with this special food, we will be able to concentrate in school”.
The grandmother could not contain her emotions when she was handed the porridge and said she has been relieved of the burden of thinking of where her next meal will come from or what she will give her grandchildren. We explained to her that the porridge has vitamins and minerals to help them grow well, to which she said “Please send my gratitude to the people who were given this vision of helping the orphans in Zimbabwe. I have no words to express how much this means to me and my grandchildren.”
Thulani and Dumisani love the porridge because it is sweet and filling. They love not being hungry and better yet, they love that someone whom they've never met thought of them. That is YOU! Thank YOU for caring for these children. They are healthy and well because of your generosity.
