Our two orphaned Bushbabies Pepito and Pepita need food to survive. We feed them with insects, fruits and mealworms. Pepito & Pepita would like your help of $400 to cover their food for a year.
Chico was an orphan bushbaby and was hand raised by Daktari. She became so much a part of the family that one day she gave us two lovely babies. They have been living happily until one day when Chico, the mother of Pepito and Pepita didn't return. As we were Chico's closest relatives, we took over her motherhood and carried on feeding the babies who are still living in Daktari's house.
We provide Pepito & Pepita with food and care. Bushbabies are nocturnal animals that live in family groups of 2 to 7. Pepito and Pepita are still too young to be independent and we will take care of them until they are ready to live on their own. In the mean time we feed them with meal worms which we breed and unfortunately also have to buy regularly.
We hope Pepito & Pepita will have a happy life with our help. They roam free at Daktari and are still very dependent and attached to us. However, one day, they will have the chance, to create their own family in the wild. Bushbabies are extinct in the local villages due to a lack of knowledge about their friendly and innocent character. Underprivileged children visiting Daktari get the chance to see them, which creates awareness toward their re-introduction and protection in the villages.
