Andy started his journey toward disaster recovery six years ago when he was in the 2004 Asian tsunami. He was severely injured and his partner was killed. As soon as he was able, Andy returned to Thailand to volunteer in the recovery process. He stayed in Thailand for 13 months, eventually leading the construction of 67 permanent houses. He has since devoted his life to disaster recovery
Emma is also a co-founder of European Disaster Volunteers. She has eight months experience as a volunteer leader in Pisoc, Peru, following a devastating earthquake. Emma also holds a Bachelors of Arts in writing and now puts her communication skills to work for EDV.
Every microproject is intended to use the donations it receives in accordance with its stated description; however, it is important to provide project leaders with the flexibility to maximize the potential benefit from the donations they receive. This means that your donation may be used as a part of the main project that supports this microproject. In this event, the project leader is required to post an update to the microproject detailing the results and reasons behind this change.
