Manthan is a young educator from Balghat, one of India's least developed districts. He is a volunteer with a non-profit organization, Community Development Centre, in TakingITGlobal's Adobe Youth Voices program. Manthan has trained over 180 youth to express themselves and capture social issues using digital media. Manthan is interested in a scholarship to our course, Education for Environmental Stewardship so that he can develop strategies to infuse environmental issues into his work with youth.
In Manthan's own words: "I like to do behavior change of the people on environment, climate change, forest and wild life conservation. I like to work with youths and school going children on these issues. I think youths could be great change agents for these issues. Its well known that there is very much low awareness among people on environment related issues. When the people don't have knowledge and information about the problem than how they can take part to solve the problem?"
By supporting Manthan's participation in our e-course, Education for Environmental Stewardship, he will be able to develop his understanding of and competencies in environmental education. Using online and offline resources and tools, he will be able to engage in a discussion about the critical need for meaningful environmental education, and how to foster a sense of environmental stewardship for youth through a project-based, practical approach.
Our e-courses help educators gain the knowledge and confidence they need to shape a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable world. Whether they've paid tuition or been supported through a scholarship, our e-course participants increase their capacity to use technology to engage their students in future-focused education. Our e-course alumni go on to share the experience with their colleagues, both through the casual sharing of ideas and resources and by becoming champions in their schools.
