Y-WE is flipping the script in social media and shifting the spotlight from woman's look, to her intellect. 100% of young women who attend Y-WE graduate high school and credit Y-WE with helping them achieve their college and career goals. With your help, we can continue this legacy, by raising 20 scholarships by the end of this Summer. These scholarships will enable young women from low-income backgrounds to have access to our life-chaning leadership programs. All gifts will be matched!
Media often focuses on women's appearance, building insecurities and self-doubt in girls who believe they must achieve the beauty standard set by TV, magazines, and social media. This leads young women to lower their leadership aspirations. This self doubt means women stop speaking in class and learn to set lower expectations for themselves. Alarmingly, girls leadership goals for their future PEAK at age 8. Y-WE is changing the conversation and shining a light on girl's achievements!
Our Summer programs will increase young women's confidence by providing them with workshops on relevant skills. Y-WE Write will help girls improve their writing through workshops with professional writers, helping them increase their confidence in both their academic and creative abilities. Y-WE Create will work with young women to up-cycle materials & older pieces and understand the true human, environmental and monetary cost of fashion.
