This project will facilitate children speak out during comemoration of the Day of the African Child (DAC). International DAC takes place on June 16 every year comemorating black school children killed protesting in Soweto South Africa in 1976 when they protested about the inferior quality of Education. The project will organize foras and debates prior to the DAC to allow gathering of information to be disseminated to opinion leaders and the government on the commemoration day
Majority of African Children are faced with many challenges which affects their development, majority have challenges at school especially the girls, challenges at home and with their neighbourhoods. Many of these go untackled. This project will solve this by engaging young people in focus group discussions and discuss the route cause then solve the problem with opinion leaders on the Day of the African Child ( DAC)
We will gather their views, both boys and girls of different ages will sit in their respective groups according to their age groups. Thier views will be shared on the DAC by their representative. The media will be invited to take coverage of the proceedings, it is anticipated that this will help inform wide coverage not only where we work but to the whole world since majority of the children normally face the same challenges in Africa.
Local leaders will take on the views brought in by the children, our planning will be eased next financial year as we will intergrate ideas shared by the young people of our community, transformation in the communities is expected as many will view the proceedings on their Televisions and listen to them on radios as well as in local daily News papers.
