Our local education team has worked very hard to improve education system which aims to provide a quality education to our students.
They have the quarterly Education team’s meeting aims to share experiences and knowledge of teaching to the team and discussion of the effective methodologies of teaching and also reporting any problems related to education once a week by the education team.
New students parents or caregivers are invited to participate in the introduction to HHA education project every new semester which aim to make sure they understand us, reducing the amount of dropping out of the students and easy to work with them in the futures. When they understand they sign on our contract.
After teaching with the new books we made, our education team finds out some difficulty of the students’ learning, so they decided to upgrade the book. The new book will contain the four macro skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking including exercise, conversation, role-play, spelling, pronunciation, activities and games, teacher’s tips, songs or chants, and also include some Khmer Cultures and Cross-cultures.
“The aims of upgrading the English book is to make more easier for students to learn and they can easily use their English knowledge in their daily lives because the lessons are created to match up with their lives, their houses, their families and their country etc.” Salin, Education and Community Manager.
After having a set curriculum living values book, our education team are easy to provide our students various important topics for their lives, especially to make them to be good students, good children and good citizens in the society. Our students have improved a lot with their behavior. They are now familiar with our core student’s values including punctuality, patient, cooperation, respect and willing to learn.
We have added more topics such as: fire escaping, earthquake escaping, Khmer customs, and road safety to this class and used Khmer storybooks related to the topic to involve in teaching. Our students also help us in our garden during living values.
We really need more funds for our teacher’s salaries as we did not raise much money in this fundraiser and will do another microproject fundraiser at the end of the year. We hope our generous supporters will help provide quality English education to our students.
