40.000 people have been affected by the floods in the north of Chile. This is one of the dryest zones on Earth and, paradojically, the last days' heavy rains unleashed a never seen (nor predicted) scenario arround Copiapo with towns entirely devastated. We will invest your contribution in reconstructing SCHOOL(S). Places for reencounter of people; places where children and adults feel safe; places where creativity and learning takes place, places where prospectives of future are feed.
As we did after Valparaiso's horrible fire, we will use the raised funds to rebuild the most affected schools in the floods effected zones. Our methodology involves the full participation of the local community, so the results are sustained in the long term. We will merge our efforts with Fundacion para la Superacion de la Pobreza, our local partner. The target is to reconstruct two schools, returning their right to schooling to 360 children who will not loose an entire school year
More than 4 million Chilean children attend school. An educational reform means that all Chilean children will have a real opportunity to get a high quality education that opens up their futures. This benefits students, and the whole country that will develop not only economically, but socially.
