This project will construct the most commonly used traditional pit latrine for the children's home in Uganda. The four stance pit latrine will include well built bathrooms for boys and girls besides it. The latrine will have a washing facility for hand washing.This will reduce a risk factor in transmission of oral fecal diseases like typhoid, diarrhoeal disease, dysentery and cholere
The children's home is nearing completion but the risk factor is the lack of a pit latrine, the area has not got running water hence making it hard for the building of a modern toilet. As a result of this, there is a high risk of contracting diseases caused by poor sanitary conditions especially worm infestation and diarrhoeal diseases.
This micro project will enable the children acquire the most commonly used traditional pit latrine which is a pit with a floor and a superstructure with bathrooms for both boys and girls besides it
The main route of infestations is oral-feacal (Uno and Kilama, 1990). The most important measure to control these diseases is to dispose of faeces in a sanitary way. The pit latrine can always be emptied once it fills up in future hence making it user friendly.
