Summary

This microproject will purchase a Toyota town ace van. The new automatic 4 wheel drive van will be used to deliver children to School and back to the Orphanage, field visits, as well as pick volunteers from airport. It will also be used for errands and medical visits in the community. Savings in vehicle hire costs will be significant. The Mountains of Hope is a registered entity, no individual will benefit from the Ministry assets other than the Ministry itself.

Challenge

Access to high quality education and medical care services have been compromised as children cannot access immediate emergency health care due to lack of transport. There is an increase in vehicle hire costs while taking children to school and back, taking them for treatment, and visiting the communities we serve.

Solution

The van will facilitate day to day activities such as dropping kids to school and back, offer emergency care for the sick kids, facilitate transport to the field, bank deposits and mail pickups, therefore reducing need for use of hired vehicles during work hours. The van will promote flexibility and visibility in communities and regions

Long-Term Impact

The existing capital budget supports the servicing and mechanical repairs of the vehicle. The available fleet management policy will ensure the vehicle is kept safe and secure hence serving for along time. The driver is to provide weekly and monthly reports on the status of the vehicle. Apart from emergency situations, the vehicle will be for official use only.
