Saw Law La Say - Program Coordinator
Law La Say eft Burma (Karen State) in April 1986 at the age of 15 years. When he was in Karen State he went to school. On the way to school he was forced on 3 occasions to porter for the Burmese Government Army, carrying arms for them. The last week before he left Karen State one of the Burmese Soldiers threatened Law La Say with a knife. He ran by himself to the Thai border and refugee camp.
Saw Teh Nay - Youth Coordinator
One night in December 1995, the Karen territory headquarters in Manerplaw, nearby Teh Nay's village fell to the SPDC Burmese troops. Together with nearly 5000-6000 other Karen civilians, Teh Nay and his family fled to Thailand. During this exodus Teh Nay got shot in the leg and nearly lost it. He was 17 years old. He still has the scars. Teh Nay, a refugee, cannot return home to his village.
