Challenge

Even greater than the digital divide is the opportunity divide that affects students in low-income school districts. Entrepreneurship education classes offered by NFTE in under-resourced schools teach students how to create, market and sustain their own businesses. In the 21st Century the ability to use technology is key to achieving business objectives, improving profitability and being prepared for the world of work and post-secondary education.

Solution

The Digital Classroom teaches high school students enrolled in NFTE the practical computer applications they need to succeed in the real world. They will also gain entrepreneurship expertise online through our classroom portal space. Fortified with business knowledge and essential technology skills these students will be better prepared for the challenges of the workplace, excel in their academic pursuits and achieve their dream of economic independence.

Long-Term Impact

By working to keep at-risk students engaged in their school work, NFTE spurs its participants to graduate high school and dare to dream of a brighter future. Whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or start their own business, NFTE instills an entrepreneurial mindset in young people so they can plan for success. Since 1987 NFTE has worked with almost 500,000 students across the U.S. and around the world.
