The Challenge is a way for organizations to try GlobalGiving and see if our fundraising tools and services are right for them. Specifically, the challenge is for participants to generate donations for their projects between July 5, 2010 (00:00 EST) and July 30, 2010 (23:59 EST).
This Challenge is a special "green" themed challenge for projects which focus on addressing climate change in sustainable and innovative ways. Participating organizations are those which have passed our green scoring assessment and are leading the grassroots response to climate change. Learn more about our GlobalGiving Green initiative.
The top three (3) projects that raise the most funds will also receive supplementary cash bonuses from GlobalGiving of $10,000, $5,000, and $3,000 respectively. The top three (3) projects with the greatest number of unique donors will be awarded a bonus of $4,000, $2,000, and $1,000 respectively.
ANY Project that is able to meet the challenge threshold of raising $4000 from at least 50 separate donors will be invited to stay on at GlobalGiving. These projects will be eligible to continue receiving donations from the general public, private and corporate foundations through www.globalgiving.org and take advantage of GlobalGiving’s fundraising tools and services.
Online donations will be accepted through July 30 until 23:59 EST. Checks received by July 29 will be included in the Challenge and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after July 29 will be applied to the indicated project, but will not count towards the Challenge. Checks should be made payable to the GlobalGiving Foundation and should clearly indicate the project to which the funds should be applied.

Project Challenge participants are organizations registered as charitable and non profit organizations in the US (501(c)3 organizations) or internationally, working in local communities, who have expressed interest in posting their projects on GlobalGiving's site. All Project Leaders must complete a rigorous Due Diligence process to qualify for the Project Challenge. Additionally, since this is a "green challenge" all projects address climate change, and must pass through GlobalGiving's green scoring assessment.
