Free Bonded Nepali Girls

Nepal  Women and Girls

In rural Nepal, impoverished families have been selling their daughters to be bonded servants. The Nepal Youth Foundation (NYF) provides the family with a goat or piglet as substitution for the daughter's wages, brings the girl home and ensures her access to education. Now that NYF has freed almost 12,000 girls and has nearly eradicated the bonding practice, it has shifted its focus to empowering girls to be leaders of the movement against bonding. read updates from the field
