GlobalGiving | Global Engagement Summit Project Challenge 2009

» The Global Engagement Summit brings together young people in a five-day program that will enable them to better plan, execute, and participate in change-focused projects, and connect with like-minded peers from around the world. GlobalGiving is privileged to offer these young social entrepreneurs the opportunity to join the diverse community of donors and social entrepreneurs on GlobalGiving. These are their projects.

Why give? «

Your donation matters! Every donation supports the great work these project leaders are doing. And your donation has the potential to have an even greater impact by helping these projects get one step closer to 50 donors and $4,000. Once projects cross this threshold, they are invited to remain on the GlobalGiving site and fundraise further.

What is the challenge? »

The Challenge is for participants to generate donations for their projects between April 17, 2009 and May 8th, 2009 (3 PM EDT).

ANY Project that is able to raise a minimum of $4,000 and at least 50 separate donors will be invited to stay on at GlobalGiving. These projects will be eligible to continue receiving donations from the general public, private and corporate foundations through www.globalgiving.org.

The top three fundraising projects (most dollars raised) that meet the minimum threshold ($4000 raised from 50 separate donors) will also receive supplementary cash bonuses from the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) and GlobalGiving of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. The project with the greatest number of unique donors (and meeting the minimum threshold of $4000 and 50 separate donors) will be awarded a bonus of $1,000.

Online donations will be accepted through May 8th, 2009. Checks received by May 7th , 2 PM will be included in the Challenge and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after May 7th will be applied to the indicated project, but will not count towards the Challenge. Checks should be made payable to the GlobalGiving Foundation and should clearly indicate the project to which the funds should be applied.

Who are the participants? »

The Global Engagement Summit (GES) at Northwestern University is a ﬁve-day training conference for young people who care deeply about global change. Delegates come together to understand the challenges of and opportunities for development; to hone the skills and mindsets that will enable them to better plan, execute, and participate in change-focused projects; and to connect with like-minded peers from around the world. These are their projects.

What is GlobalGiving? »

GlobalGiving is a global marketplace for philanthropy that helps donors support causes they are passionate about. Using its public website, GlobalGiving connects donors to more than 500 community based projects worldwide.
