GLOBAL OPEN CHALLENGE GOAL

The September 2012 Global Open Challenge is for participants to generate donations for their projects from September 1, 2012 00:01:00 AM EDT to September 30, 2012 23:58:59 PM EDT (GMT-4). ANY Project that is able to meet the challenge threshold of raising $4000 from at least 50 separate donors will be invited to stay on at GlobalGiving. These projects will be eligible to continue receiving donations from the general public, private and corporate foundations through www.globalgiving.org and take advantage of GlobalGiving's fundraising tools and services.

Throughout the Challenge, all projects are eligible to receive donations from the general public, private and corporate foundations through www.globalgiving.org. Online donations will be accepted until September 30, 2012 23:58:59 PM EDT (GMT-4). Checks received by September 26, 2012 will be included in the Challenge and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after September 26, 2012 will be applied to the indicated project, but will not count towards the Challenge. Checks should be made payable to the GlobalGiving Foundation and should clearly indicate the project to which the funds should be applied.

FOUR CASH BONUS OPPORTUNITIES

1. Bounty Prizes! At the conclusion of the Challenge the top three (3) projects that raise the most funds will also receive supplementary cash bonuses from GlobalGiving of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 respectively. The project with the greatest number of unique donors will be awarded a bonus of $2,000.
2. Bonus Day Surprise! For 1 day (24 hrs), all ONLINE donations (up to $1000 each) will be matched at 15% till the total matching grant of $6,000 is used up. The date of bonus day will be September 5th.
3. Bonus Day Surprise #2! For 1 day (24 hrs), all ONLINE donations (up to $1000 each) will be matched at 15% till the total matching grant of $3,000 is used up. The date of bonus day will be September 19th.
4. Spreading the Word Bonus! All projects that meet at least half of the challenge threshold (raised at least $2000 from at least 25 unique donors) will be eligible for the "spreading the word" bonus. For this bonus the top 5 projects whose project pages have been shared the most on Facebook will receive $300 each. You can see the total count below the second donate button.

CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS

Project Challenge participants are organizations registered as charitable and non-profit organizations in the US (501(c)3 organizations) or internationally, working in local communities, who have expressed interest in posting their projects on GlobalGiving's site. All Project Leaders must complete a rigorous Due Diligence process to qualify for the Project Challenge.

Terms and Conditions

• The Challenge is for participants to generate donations for their projects from September 1, 2012 00:01:00 AM EDT to September 30, 2012 23:58:59 PM EDT (GMT-4).
• ANY Project that is able to raise a minimum of $4000 and at least 50 separate donors will be invited to stay on at GlobalGiving. All projects have to meet this threshold to be eligible for bounty awards.
• The top three (3) projects that raise the most funds will also receive supplementary cash bonuses from GlobalGiving of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 respectively. The (1) project with the greatest number of unique donors will be awarded a bonus of $2,000.
• On September 5, 2012 from 00:00:01 hrs to 23:59 hrs, $6,000 of matching funds will be released. Any online, unique donation (up to $1,000 per individual donor per project) to a project participating in the September Global Open Challenge will be matched at 15% while matching funds remain.
• On September 19, 2012 from 00:00:01 hrs to 23:59 hrs, $3,000 of matching funds will be released. Any online, unique donation (up to $1,000 per individual donor per project) to a project participating in the September Global Open Challenge will be matched at 15% while matching funds remain.
• Additionally, all projects that meet at least half of the challenge threshold (raised at least $2000 from at least 25 unique donors) will be eligible for the “spreading the word” bonus. For this bonus, For this bonus the top 5 projects whose project pages have been shared the most on Facebook will each receive $300. You can see the total share count on the leaderboard below. Please note that GlobalGiving will be moderating this in the background and reserves the right to disqualify any attempts of misconduct. Only Facebook Shares that occur between September 1, 2012 00:01:00 AM EDT and September 30, 2012 23:58:59 PM EDT (GMT-4) will count towards this bonus.
• Online donations will be accepted through September 30, 2012 23:58:59 PM EDT (GMT-4). Checks received by September 26, 2012 will be included in the Challenge and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after September 26, 2012 will be applied to the indicated project, but will not count towards the Challenge. Checks should be made payable to the GlobalGiving Foundation and should clearly indicate the project to which the funds should be applied. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept cash donations.
• All checks for projects on GlobalGiving must be made out to the GlobalGiving Foundation and mailed to our address on or before September 26, 2012. GlobalGiving accepts checks issued in the U.S. above 10 U.S. dollars (USD). Checks issued by a non-U.S. country must be more than 100 USD or equivalent in the local currency. GlobalGiving will not cash international checks that are less than 100 USD.
• Any activity not in the spirit of requesting separate individuals to support donations is being moderated by GlobalGiving and GlobalGiving reserves the right to permanently disqualify organizations for any attempts of misconduct. Online donations are considered unique if they are made from separate emails. We also request that different credit cards be used and monitor this in our databases. We are monitoring I.P. addresses, credit cards, mailing addresses and various other parameters in our system to ensure that the only unique, distinct donors are counted towards the Challenge thresholds.
• Transaction fee for donations: GlobalGiving charges a 15% fee, but works to keep the fees you pay as low as possible while providing you great services and resources. The 15% fee helps cover the costs we incur to promote your organization and projects, provide you with fundraising training and tools, and maintain and improve our online technology in order to keep you connecting with new donors. With our new add-on option, we also offer the donor the opportunity to make an additional donation to cover the fee so that you receive the intended amount.
• If you are hosting any offline fundraising events, please encourage your donors to give online, by placing computers at the venue. Or, ask them to bring checkbooks and give you the checks. These can be mailed to GlobalGiving by September 26, 2012, to be counted towards the Global Open Challenge. The rules determining unique check donors apply, as usual.
• Mobile donations are not counted towards the Challenge thresholds.
• Cash donations will not be accepted.
• All U.S. organizations that raise any funds will be disbursed those funds at the end of the October 2012. International organizations that raise at least 100 USD gross will also be disbursed the funds at the end of October 2012. International organizations that raise less than 100 USD will not receive their funds at the end of October. GlobalGiving will hold these funds until the end of the following Challenge on September 30, 2012. Should the organization not participate in the September Open Challenge or raise 0 USD during this Challenge, GlobalGiving will reallocate funds raised to another organization.
• Any transactions that are reported as fraudulent and/or reversed jeopardizes your participation and GlobalGiving retains the discretion to disqualify your organization from the Global Open Challenge.
• Please note that GlobalGiving maintains the right to make a final decision on all matters concerning the adjudication of unique donors and final results of the September Global Open Challenge 2012.

Note that while all donations made on Bonus Day will count towards the $4,000 goal for the Global Open, the matching money will not count towards the $4,000 goal.
