Bounty Awards
The top overall fundraising projects (awards offered for two categories: most dollars raised and greatest number of unique donors) will receive supplementary cash bonuses funded by Athletes for Hope's partners of $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500, respectively. With 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize positions for each category there are six potential end of race, grand prize winners. The overall winners will be announced no later than Tuesday, January 19th 2010.
In addition, daily challenges are scheduled for the following dates: December 22, 29, and 30, 2009, and January 5, 7, 12, and 14, 2010. The project raising the most money will win an additional $500 for that day, and the project generating the most donors will also win $500, measured between 12:01 am and 11:59 pm on the single days listed above. Awards won on daily challenges do not count toward the project's overall cumulative total used to determine the grand prize winner. NOTE: The bonuses on December 30 are $1,000 and $1,000, respectively, and the bonuses on January 14, 2010 are $1,250 and $1,250, respectively, for the projects raising the most money and generating the most donors.
The bonus awards also will be awarded AFTER the conclusion of the Race, and are not included in calculation of overall funds raised.
In the event that multiple projects competing in Who Gives? Racing for a Cause are "tied" as far as funds raised (for either the full Race or a daily challenge), the project with the most unique donors will be considered the leader. In the event that multiple projects competing in Who Gives? Racing for a Cause are "tied" as far as funds raised (for either the full Race or a daily challenge), the project with the most unique donors will be considered the leader. If projects are tied on both counts, the bounty award will be divided between them
All additional bounty awards will be disbursed, along with all funds raised, within 45 days of the Race's conclusion.
Conditions for Donations and Unique Donor Count
Online donations will be accepted through 11: 59 pm US Eastern time on Friday, January 15, 2010. Checks received through January 14, 2010 will be included in the Race and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after January 14, 2010 will be applied to the indicated project, but will not count towards bounty. Please take into account the time lag (mail and processing time) when sending checks, and note that checks are normally processed Monday through Friday, but excluding holidays: December 24, December 25, and January 1.
Checks should be made payable to the GlobalGiving Foundation and should clearly indicate the project to which the funds should be applied.
A "Unique Donor" corresponds to a unique email address for an online donation, and a single bank account for a check (hence, the same credit card may be used for multiple donations; however if from the same email address, this will count as one unique donor, and two checks issued from the same bank account will be counted as one unique donor.) Please be aware that we will be monitoring activity to assure fairness for all participants. In addition, note that the project page reflects total donations, which is not the same as unique donors (since a donor may make multiple donations, but for the purposes of the competition will only be counted one time).
GlobalGiving and Athletes for Hope maintain the right to make a final decision on all matters concerning the adjudication of unique donors and final results of Who Gives? Racing for a Cause.
Please note that we are not able to accept cash donations.
