Stage 1 Complete

Painting the Craft Workshop
Painting the Craft Workshop

Thanks to your help and generosity, we have completed the first stage of the La Hesperia Craft Workshop project! To date, we have raised over half of the funds that we need to complete the project. These funds have enabled us to complete the building construction and refurbishment for the workshop. Last week, we painted all the walls, officially completing the first stage of our project.

The second stage will be to raise the other half of the funds to purchase the equipment for making the crafts. In particular, this includes a glass-melting oven, which costs $2,000 USD. With this equipment, we will begin to train members of the community in using the over to make crafts from recycled glass.

For an example of the types of crafts we plan to make, please check out the attached photos.

We are half way to our goal, but we need your help for the second stage of the project. Please pass on news of the project to friends and family. With your help and donations we will be able to put our workshop to use very soon and ensure that there is sustainable income for the Cloud Forest school.

Continuation of the Recycled Crafts Workshop

Hello Donors!

We are now getting closer to our $8,000 goal thanks to all the generous contributions we have received. Hopefully it won’t be long before we are able to purchase the last required pieces of equipment and machinery to start making our crafts from recycled material.

In the meantime we are training more staff members at our Cloud Forest School in the techniques required to make the crafts. The children from the school are currently on their summer holidays until April. However they are still busy, along with members of the community, and all the staff and volunteers here, collecting used plastic bottles in preparation for starting the craft making.  Ideally we would like to be able to have purchased some of the other required materials for when they return.

With continued donations we will soon be able to start work on this exciting project and start generating some much needed income for our school in the clouds.

Thank You!

Advancement of Craft Workshop

Hello Donors!

First, allow me to apologize for the delay in correspondence. We have undergone a slight personnel change here at La Hesperia recently. The person who used to submit these reports is no longer here, but I am now and we are excited to get back to business. With your help and donations we hope that we will be able to start putting our workshop to use very soon!

I am pleased to report that thanks to your generous donations we have been able to finalize construction of the Recycled Crafts Workshop. The building is ready to be put to use, all that we are waiting on now is more donations to purchase all the necessary tools and machinery to begin making our crafts out of recycled materials. Once we reach our goal of $8,000 we will be able to take the next and final step. With your help we can soon begin an important and much needed recycling project and start generating income for our Cloud Forest School.

 Thank you!
