Tyler Elementary is in one of our nation's capital's most economically challenged neighborhoods. Arts are a powerful tool to reach every type of learner and "catch up" students on fundamental learning concepts. Song structure can teach story sequence and language skills. Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian art form combining dance, music & martial arts, exposes children to another culture while teaching math skills and self-control.
