Mission

YES believes that employment is empowerment and the cornerstone of safe and healthy communities. YES leads the Canadian youth sector with innovative programs that empower disadvantaged and vulnerable youth to become self-sufficient contributing members of society. The rate of unemployment for young people in Toronto is estimated to be as high as 30%. In fact there are 200,000 less youth working then there were in 2008. We proudly boast an 84% success rate helping youth find work or return to school. YES was the first to both recognize and address that being out of work is often the result of factors beyond the control of our most vulnerable and disadvantaged youth. Low self-esteem, a mental or physical disability or simply being in need of bus fare to get to a job interview can all have a tremendous effect on youth employment. We continuously develop and deliver programs for thousands of youth each year in several of Toronto's high-risk neighborhoods. Since our inception YES has helped over 110,000 young people.

Programs

YES is the largest and most experienced youth employment counseling center in Canada. YES has an exemplary reputation for innovative and successful programs and services for young people with barriers to employment such as homelessness, a lack of formal education, a criminal record and drug abuse. Founded by The Rotary Club of Toronto in 1968, Youth Employment Services YES is Canada's very first youth employment organization. Internationally recognized as a Centre of Excellence in Youth Employment, YES leads the sector by providing programs designed to address the most critical issue facing today's youth- unemployment. Modeled on the three themes of Employment, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, YES helps young people to rebuild their lives and believe in a future filled with hope and opportunity.
