Big Car brings art to people and people to art - gathering people together to spark creativity in lives, boost social capital and transform communities.
Our program/artistic vision: Big Car works to help improve life in Indianapolis through cultural programs, events and projects that encourage people to be:
Creative - we bring adults and children fun opportunities to make art, record or write stories, make music, and see that everyone can and should create.
Curious - we find fun ways to challenge people to ask why and how things work and participate in joining others in finding these answers.
Adventurous - we ask people to take chances, try new things, go new places, see and learn new things.
Tolerant - often using collaboration, we bring people of different backgrounds and cultures together to learn from each other.
Connected - people often feel disconnected from the cultural and community offerings in Indianapolis. We help them become part of the shared joy of our city.
Healthy - our activities include physical aspects like playing, walking and cycling. And we focus on encouraging healthy eating and nutrition with projects related to urban gardening, cooking and dining.
Happy - studies show creativity can help people feel happier and healthier. By providing positive, playful, surprising and fun experiences, we do little things to brighten people's lives.
