Progress Report #12

We are so thankful for the generous support we have received from our supporters over the last few months. We truly could not do this without you.

The nutrition program continues to draw much interest and we hope to deliver this program to all the communities seeking to improve their overall nutritional health and well-being. To do this, we need to keep promoting the program locally and raising support internationally. Through Global Giving and our generous supporters, we are able to make incremental steps towards reaching our goals for healthier communities in Cameroon. Thank you for your support of and interest in the work we are doing.

We are excited with the healthy nutrition movement that is happening in local communities. We continue to promote the nutrition program through local radio programs in the Buea region and the nutrition program is drawing plenty of interest. Providing nutritional information and methods are having tangible health benefits in rural communities where they are most needed. Healthy diets are leading to healthier communities and healthier communities are allowing individuals and families to achieve their full potential. We see this happening in the communities we partner with and this encourages us to keep working each day towards tangible, empowering, and positive change.

Once again, we thank you for your continued support. We hope to soon update you with more exciting news from the communities and individuals utilizing our nutrition program.

Fundraising and Progress Report #6

Once again, thank you for your generous support. We greatly appreciate your partnership in helping FORUDEF to better the lives of individuals and communities in Cameroon.

The juice project is going well. Currently, Susan is at a trade fair where she will promote the juice from the project as well as the project in general. Also, the success of the juice business so far has led us to consider starting a store in town focused on selling the products from this project. The demand is there, we just need to find the right location- in terms of affordability and accessabillity.

Also, to clarify our progress to date, we have used donations to purchase a deep freezer, cooler, and large flask. These items have increased FORUDEF’s ability to scale up its production of juice. As a result, a group of 4-5 women are now able to produce 30-40 500 mL bottles of juice in a day. In addition, the deep freezer has allowed FORUDEF to purchase fruit when it is cheapest, and store it until it is needed. The ability to store fruit has also made juice processing malleable to demands for the processor’s time; fruit can be cut and frozen one day, and turned into juice the next without fear of it spoiling.

As noted in our earlier report, although there is much interest amongst women’s groups and individuals in participating in this project, FORUDEF lacks both the financial and social capital to expand the initiative. However, we have prioritized the purchase of professional-grade fruit processors once we have acquired the neccessary funding. This purchase will expedite the process of fruit processing and help to expand the scope of this initiative.

We look forward to providing more updates as this project grows and we thank you for your support and generosity.

Fundraising Report #1

Once again, thank you for your continued generosity and support. We could not achieve our goals and objectives in local communities without you.

We are happy to report that we have raised almost 80% of the funding needed to provide the annual salary of a Project Development Officer.

With more staff FORUDEF will be able to carry out more work in the community. Additionally, the new staff member will contribute their time and expertise to expanding FORUDEF's funding base, identifying new sources of funding, and building the long-term sustainability of the organization. A Project Development Officer will help to ensure that all staff members have the freedom to carry out their respective roles to their  full ability and improve the functioning of the organization as a whole.

We are excited to continue moving towards achieving full funding for this project and to moving forward in our work with local communities.

Thank you again. Your support is greatly appreciated.
