Step It Up, Inc. (SIU) is a partner with U.S.A. President Obama's new Summer Jobs+ Project to help more teens connect with the workforce and engage more business partner employees to share their areas of expertise with youth.This is the win-win of SIU's summer program that matches eligible teens with career-relevant internships in partnership with the business community.
SIU's Summer Jobs+ Project will connect 20 youth from the Portland, OR metro area with on-the-job training so that they are more prepared to excel within their workplace or education and, in turn, will have increased opportunities for employment and education pathways. Business partners will build and improve their talent pipeline, leverage and hone present employee leadership skills, and demonstrate commitment to the community while promoting workforce diversity and positioning itself as the community employer of choice.
You can join an Internship Team by donating $300, $25/month as a recurring donor, and help support one youth for a summer internship! Let us know if you have a particular career industry you would like to support and we will connect you with Team Members on that Internship Team.

As we approach the end of the year, we come closer to a huge milestone at Step It Up, Inc. Our first youth, Ricardo and David, will turn 25 years-old next year and officially graduate from Step It Up’s programs as successful college students on track with their professional career goals. Since we provide youth, ages 13 to 25, with long-term support, we are thrilled to reach this milestone of success for these two youth and know that we could not do it without your generous support and caring.

Thank you for your support this past summer!
Thanks to your donation, Career Club teens participated in many activities this past summer that helped them discover their talents, explore careers, and gain skills that they need to succeed.
Starting in June, the Summer Career Club teens went on summer site visits to businesses located in the Portland Metro Area, participated in skills building activities, engaged in informational interviews, and met one-on-one with caring adult advisors; all which helped them develop their skills and plan for their futures. Thank you for helping provide this opportunity for them!

As we head into fall, it becomes even more important for teens to have access to the support, career advice, and skills training that they receive through Career Club. With so many teens in danger of dropping out, connecting them to real life careers, and showing them how they will use their education in the workplace, is vital to ensuring they remain in school and achieve their career and college goals.
