K.C Mahindra Education Trust - Project Nanhi Kali

Project Nanhi Kali was initiated in 1996 by the K.C Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET) with an aim to provide primary education to underprivileged girl children in India. Over the years, it has successfully evolved into a national girl child sponsorship programme, which has an objective of providing 10 years of quality education to girls from economically disadvantaged families. Since 2005, the project is jointly managed by K C Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation.

Ramkatha became a Nanhi Kali in 2005. In her village, women are not allowed to step out of home and rarely into a school. She was chosen as one of the models for one of the Nanhi Kali advertisements holding a slate showing that only three out of ten girls who enter Std. I complete Std. X. She successfully cleared the 10th board exam in second division this year. She is the first girl from the Scheduled Caste Community in her village to complete 10th standard in school.
