Friends of Yimbo

Friends of Yimbo (FOY) is a non-profit organization that works with the people of Yimbo Village in Western Kenya. Founded by Ben and Charles Odipo, FOY intends to further the efforts on behalf of the community begun by their father, Joseph, who passed away before realizing his principal goal of providing a fully functional primary school for the area. FOY continuously liaises with the local community to prioritize and realize other goals it identifies.

Programs

- Furnishing, stocking books and other materials, and maintaining the Muguna Primary School Library, built by locals with funds provided by Friends of Yimbo, and dedicated in July 2009. - Extension of existing clean water pipelines to the Muguna Primary School. FOY has established a local task force that has been working with an engineering firm to finalize the project plan. Cost estimates have been completed. - Establishment of a community health clinic. The nearest clinic is 32 km away.
