Mission

CANVAS promotes greater awareness and appreciation for Philippine art, culture and the environment. CANVAS also explores the use of art to promote reflection, discussion and debate on selected social issues, particularly national identity, free expression and sustainable development.

Programs

CANVAS' flagship activity is the Romeo Forbes Children's Story Writing Competition which results in the publication of original children's books written and illustrated by young Filipino artists and writers. To ensure access and affordability to the art and stories, e-book versions are all made downloadable for free on the CANVAS website. (www.canvas.ph) CANVAS also runs the Looking for Juan (www.lookingforjuan.com) which explores the use of art for social advocacy.
