OVC in Government sec. sch. Bursary.

Chinseu CBO for the past times has bee able to pay school  fees for eight OVC students, very encouragingly the OVC intake  has increased from eight to ten this term.

Chinseu CBO GENERAL ADMINISTRATION:

Chinseu CBO with its spirit of minimizing its administration services costs has managed to pay security guards for sometime now all these funds from community, Board of Trustees and the Executive committee contributions.

NEWS:

One girl child Tendai Songwe 9yrs was attacked on her way home after she received her meal, it seems the man wants to defiling Tendai but her friends who run away as they were moving three  the two run away and tell the community around who shortly come for the rescue of Tendai.  Tendai was taken to Seventh day Adventist Hospital who confirmed  Tendai was not defiled, and Tendai says she was not beaten by the man.

The man report was saying the children was scolding him hence he was angry with the children.

The issue is been undertaken by the Village Chiefs at the mean time but the atmosphere is alright currently.

CHALLENGES:

- Chinseu CBO has been unable to meet sufficient funds for these activities above mentioned.

- The diet used at this month was not the same we were using the previous months when GG Finances were at hand.

- Purchasing Administration stationary.

- Administration Petty cash.

PROJECT CHALLENGES:

- Un sustainable commodity prices.; the prices were not the same in between 60 days.

SOLLUTION:

- We use the Social Welfare Order when going to shopping so that the prices we got in the past days at the same shops shall be the same even though the prices are high. ( this was done by the interest of the shop managers).

CHALLENGE:

- There is more and more demand of the intake of the Orphans staying in the villages without benefiting the food that is offered at the Orphancare.

SOLLUTION:

- The management agreed not to add the 60 Children (OVC) right now hence we have to tell our Donors in the US for the feeding activity is much done by the US Community (DONORS).

PROJECT SUCCESSES:

- Activities plained were  covered because there is high community participation in the areas they are supposed to take part.

- The community are now responding well in bringing firewood, tomatoes, fresh vegetables, voluntary cooking.

- Many children are attending primary education  almost 99% of the children at the Orphancare are attending their lessons at school for the mean time.

PROJECT CURRENT NEEDS:

- Some more funds to run from May 2012 - July 2012.

- The funds that were financed in January 2012 of $3,732.30 are to be finished this end of April 2012.

PROJECT FUTURE PLANS:

- Chinseu CBO wish to expand the number of the Orphans at the Orphancare to 80 from 60 children.

- Chinseu CBO wish to build a good and well dinning / Hall to acommodate 100 people. : this could help much during the rainy season meetings.

- Chinseu CBO shortly shall add another project: Orphan and Vulnerable Children  only in government secondary school bursary. No room for those at private secondary school.

  • 33 Students visit the CBO`S Secretary`s Office asking for a help towards their selection to different Government Secondary Schools all these Student are Orphan  28 and 5 Vulnerables .
  • OVC Feeding is also needed at the same time.

On the second week of the January Chiefs agree to be contributing what they can give on daily basis and it proved everything goes  and the Children were not returned back without food when there was small foodstuffs OVC were given Porridge I could remember there were three days in this month of January when the CBO give only Porridge.

The commercement of  the GGF funding to the Chinseu CBO;

Orphan and Vulnerable persons feeding has improved the status of the CBO as stated below;

The coming of GGF funds has bought good changes that everybody can see without asked for example:

-          Many communities are showing interests to support Orphan care activities and many people are supporting every charities activity at the CBO like at HBC, PLHIV support groups, children corner, behavior change among peers.

-          To our donors chinseu CBO would not have manage the feeding program without you. Your support towards Chinseu CBO Orphan and vulnerable person feeding project 9277 has brought all the above stories.  This is one of very good charity but do you think feeding a child without sending them to school, paying OVC secondary school will bring fruitful results at the end, this is another assignment for all of us to take action.  So that our OVC’s are getting secondary school bursary.

-          The cooperation between CBO Management and the Community in this month of February 2010 was very encouraging and well done.

-          The community contributions towards daily Orphan and Vulnerable Persons feeding at the orphanage were done in two clauses.

  1.  Door to door fundraising by the Village Action Committee (VAC) supervised by the village Development Committee (VDC).  After finishing fundraising these two committees brought the funds to the CBO finance officer.

  1. Vegetables supplying to the orphanage every village is given their days for example:
  • Kamtumbiza Village supply vegetables to the orphanage on Mondays
  • Mdala Village supply vegetables on Tuesdays
  • Kafere and Chinkanda supply vegetables on Wednesdays
  • Chinseudzimbiri village supply vegetables on Thursdays
  • Makonokaya and Siyamdima villages supply vegetables on Fridays
  • Nanjiwa village supply vegetables on Saturday
  • Kalombola and Kaumbata villages supply vegetables on Sundays.

Mrs Zulu CBO Board Member , asking the community to continue contributing to the CBO`s activities when asked to contribute hence GGF is currently doing Feeding only and Chinseu also is taking the other part of the feeding but GG is taking a great part.
