YOU DID IT!

Happy New Year

From all of us at DARE Network, we want to personally thank you for your contributions to the Tribute Challenge for our project to rebuild our DARE Recovery Centres.

The results are in.  We secured 2nd place out of 1750 projects, thanks to you.  This means that we received $500. in bonus funds from GlobalGiving.  During the 5 week campaign, we raised over $5000.  In recognition of our hard work and all the donors who contributed, GlobalGiving matched that $5000. with another $5000.  This grant was from a small foundation that wanted to give to an organization in good standing on GlobalGiving and that was working on disaster relief.  GlobalGiving chose our project Rebuild Flooded Burma Refugee Recovery Centres for this grant.

We are thrilled and are now able to build two more centres as a result of the Tribute Card Challenge.

The project funding is over halfway to its goal.  We are hopeful that over the coming year others will continue to contribute to the project and we can make safe Recovery Centres for all of our refugee workers, clients, youth teams, womens’ and mens’ anti-violence groups and anyone who visits us.

In addition, our standing on GlobalGiving is nearly at the Superstar level.  Only $1000. to go and we will be in a position to receive greater benefits on the GlobalGiving site.  See the attached link.

Thank you once again for all that you have done and your friendship to us.  Your donation will build infrastructure but your support will build hope.

All best,

Pam

Ever been so close to something, you just needed a final hand up to reach it?

Everyone does their best.
Everyone does their best.

Since November 23, DARE Network has worked hard to win the GlobalGiving Tribute Card challenge for our project Rebuild Flooded Burma Refugee Camp Recovery Centres.  http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/rebuild-flooded-burma-refugee-camp-recovery-centre/?show=gift  We have been near or at the top of this challenge for several weeks now, thanks to donations from many people like you, who understand how much a grassroots organization like ours can do.

The challenge ends very soon on December 31st at Midnight. The premise of the challenge is to get as many "unique" donations as possible to receive $1500. in Bonus funding from GlobalGiving.

You may have already donated to it and for this we thank you.  If you wish to make a further small donation, to help us win the bonus, please be sure to use a different payment method and email address to be "unique".  Even another $10. donation to this campaign will help, as long as it is "unique".

If you haven't donated yet, please help us. Again, any size donation will get the job done.  We have some strong competition and in some cases from organizations that are not so grassroots and that have big fundraising machines behind them.  We are in a David and Goliath situation here.

Anyone, who wants to help please use this link only.  It will take you directly to the Tribute Card Campaign for our project Rebuild Flooded Burma Refugee Recovery Centres.  Make a donation in honour or memory of someone you love, respect, or want to remember to be sure it counts for the campaign and the bonus funds.

Some of what we accomplished in 2011

In 2011, DARE Network refugee camp based teams' Addiction Prevention Education reached over 6000 youth and children through 45 schools and over 79 Ultimate tournaments.  DARE treated over 300 people suffering from addiction in our Recovery Centres and provided education and counselling to over 11,000 families.  DARE continues through our programs to reduce poverty, violence and addiction in 5 refugee camps housing almost 150,000 people on a budget of just over $120,000. per year.  We have no International overheads and all your donations go directly to the beneficiaries.

We need to recover from the flooding in the camps and we need to win the Tribute Card Challenge.  We need you to be part of our team to reach these goals.  Please donate today.

Please use this link and not the Burmese Youth Prevent Addiction and Violence.  Thanks.

Amazing. At the top of the Tribute Card Challenge

The Raging Flood
The Raging Flood

For the last week, we have managed to stay on top of the Leaderboard of the GlobalGiving Tribute Card Challenge for our new project:  Rebuild Flooded Burma Refugee Recovery Centres.  Look at it here:

 http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/rebuild-flooded-burma-refugee-camp-recovery-centre/?show=gift

And this is the Leaderboard so you can see us as number 1.  But we are being chased by goats and rats and need your help to stay up there until December 31st

http://www.globalgiving.org/leaderboards/tribute-card-challenge/

You have helped us so much in the past and actually got our place on the GlobalGiving Website.  Now, look at us.

Some of you have already donated to our new project. As we are only just over half way to our goal to get  the most "Unique Donors" to unleash the bonus funds provided by GlobalGiving, we need the help of everyone else.

The Tribute Card Challenge offers you the chance to give in honour or memory of someone else.  It is the perfect holiday present to show someone you love them and that the love can be shared.  If you donate, be sure to use the "gift" option to have it count in the Challenge. Click here to make a donation as a gift: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/rebuild-flooded-burma-refugee-camp-recovery-centre/?show=gift.

Please take the time to look at the new project.  Think about sharing it with your friends.  And then donate using the gift option to help us rebuild our Recovery Centres in the Burmese refugee camps.

Wishing you peace and happiness in this season.
