The Mariposa DR Foundation is a U.S. 501(c)3 and Dominican not-for-profit with the mission of educating and empowering girls to create sustainable solutions to end generational poverty.
The Mariposa DR Foundation is focused on educating, empowering and employing girls and young women. The Mariposa Girls Leadership Program is an experiential education program that includes English, math, health, reading, field trips, art, community service and environmental education. Mariposa provides girls with a safe place where they can develop healthy relationships, have access to mentors and feel empowered to make a difference in their lives, their communities and the world.
Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that it takes a holistic approach to make a real difference in the lives of girls. We achieve lasting results by engaging the entire family and community, making a girl's education, health and safety of the utmost importance.
Engaging the entire family in the process is critical to promoting the rights of girls and young women. This is an essential and unique component of the work we do at The Mariposa DR Foundation. We engage the entire community by creating partnerships with local schools and other NGO's, encouraging parent involvement in our programs and providing incentives to families so that they make their girls' attendance at our programs a top priority.
