Transitioning into Adulthood Without Parents

Boy in CERI TC Program

Image being sixteen all over again. Now imagine being sixteen without the family you had to care for and guide you through adolescence. This is the life of youth that CERI ministers to in Moldova. For more than a decade, Children's Emergency Relief International (CERI) has been reaching youth who are aging out of state-run orphanages in Moldova with Transitional Care services.

Services for youth include education and tutoring assistance, emotional guidance and counseling, job skills training, personal financial management, and so much more. If not for CERI, youth without parents would be left on the streets to fend for themselves after aging out of orphanages at sixteen. Rather than excitement, most youth express extreme anxiety and fear as their sixteenth birthdays approach.

Thanks to you, CERI is able to intervene and provide hope to vulnerable youth as they continue to grow and learn and, eventually, make the transition into adulthood. On behalf of the CERI youth in our Transitional Care program, THANK YOU! We appreciate you more than you know...

Medical Mission to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz

This summer Children's Emergency Relief International (CERI) led its first medical mission to Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz, Mexico. The goal for this trip was to conduct a medical clinic in one of the impoverished villages of Coatza where CERI is initiating its new Child Relief and Support Program (CRSP).

The CRSP utilizes child sponorships to reach school-aged children in order to meet their physical and educational needs. Physical needs met through CERI's CRSP are food, clothing and shelter, while also providing support for educational, social and spiritual development.

The mission this summer reached over 500 children and families with much-needed primary medical care and over 1,500 prescriptions of vital medications and vitamins. All in all, CERI's medical mission was an enormous success at laying the ground work for our new Child Relief and Support Program.

Thank you for your continued support of this project!

Kids 'n Boots, Campaign Success!

Precious grin
Precious grin

Wow, what a trip... THANK YOU for your gifts to Kids 'n Boots! Because of your generosity, the 2013 Kids 'n Boots Mission was a huge success. Over 3,000 boots were successfully delivered to children and youth in Romania AND Ukraine. In spite of some unexpected twists and turns, here's what happened:

Teams in Romania faced the challenge of getting boots through customs. But as with every mission, the Lord always provides. We received word from CERI Senior Missions Advisor Dr. Dearing Garner on Monday, December 9, that boots were released from customs just three minutes before customs offices closed! What's more, because our project was humanitarian aid, our shipment made it through customs without being taxed!

While teams in Romania were making up for lost time after the delay at customs, Ukraine teams were working vigorously to distribute boots around L'viv. This was not without its own challenges, however. The political situation in Ukraine has been rather precarious in recent weeks due to former Soviet pressures. As a result, citizens were expressing their ire through public demonstrations. Fortunately, CERI teams were safe and distributed boots in areas away from local protests.

Please join us in rejoicing this Christmas season over another successful Kids 'n Boots mission! We invite you to continue your support of this worthy mission by making an end-of-year donation to our Kids 'n Boots 2014 mission to Moldova. Thank you again!
