Rosa Acuna Destroyed Home
Rosa Acuna's Afro-Peruvian community of 7,000 people is suffering its second catastrophe in less than a decade when a flood wiped away much of the region's infrastructure. With little attention being paid in her town, she has not lost hope: "We keep our faith in God and are sure that somebody will help us,” she told CHF which is looking to focus on this devastated yet neglected community.
Surveying the Destruction
More than 37,000 homes have been destroyed, leaving thousands of families without shelter.
