Along the unpaved roads leading up to San Antonio and Calabaza, deforestation is widespread with many communities cutting down the forest in order to plant crops or create pastureland. Rainforest Partnership is working with the communities of San Antonio and Calabaza to help them keep their forest standing. The goal of the project is to develop the region as an "ecotravel" destination - providing the communities with diverse and sustainable incomes while also protecting their pristine forest. project reportread updates from the field
