Vocational Training in Pakistan update

We are excited to share that we have trained nearly 750 young women in 2015 and have initiated a more rigorous needs assessment and post project reporting system. We hope to continue to provide meaningful skills and business acumen to women wishing to start or expand small business enterprises so that they can lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

We are very lucky to be among 8 other organizations with access to over $13,000 remaining in matched funds from Safer World Foundation. Help us maximize this opportunity and see your donor dollars go further. Safer World provides a 50% match for the vocational training program until the funding pool is used! Please share this opportunity with your friends and family that you think might be interested in supporting a project like this and seeing their support matched.

MDF encourages your involvement and welcomes any ideas that would help us to reach deserving young women in Pakistan and attract wider support. The project that you are supporting provides a safe place for mothers and their families to learn and develop skills that help make the world a safer and more secure place for all. Please help us generate awareness – become a fan of our Facebook page, join us on Twitter, and share with your networks. If you would like to start a MDF Allies in Action group in your community there are various one-time or re-occurring ideas and activities that we would be pleased to share. Schools in Pakistan Update

thank you
thank you

Several classes participated in our Global Kid Connect program this year, engaging in meaningful exchange with students in the U.S. With the help of teachers, students scanned letters, took photos, and shared videos asking and answering questions that allowed them to learn more about their pen pals and respective cultures. Every year we conduct this program we are inspired by the wonderful dialogue that ensues and the impact that it has on the students. Final exams went well and students are about to start their summer vacation. Since local registration in Pakistan has been secured, many thousands of dollars worth have been donated by Pakistani organizations and individuals which has helped with the shortfall of MDF support as programs have grown over time. With this support we have also been able to start and grow a library.

As always, we welcome site visits by anyone interested in our schools and activities. Two months ago one of our newly elected board members, Courtney and her daughter, visited Sheikhupura school. A joyous occasion for the visitors and students and teachers. Know that this project enables youth and their families to obtain a credible education, valuable critical thinking skills, and provides a safe place to learn and grow. In addition, their education can better prepare them to respond to future natural disasters and the many other numerous challenges that Pakistan currently faces. Please help us generate awareness – Become a fan of our Facebook page, join us on Twitter, and share with your networks. Right now, another MDF project supporting vocational education in Pakistan is receiving matching donations through Safer World Foundation up to 50%. To see your donations go farther please donate today:www.globalgiving.org/projects/vocationaltraining-for-100-pakistaniwomen/. If you would like to start a MDF Circle group in your community, we have various one-time or re-occurring ideas and activities that we can share with you. Reach us at info@marshalldirectfund.org or at +01(970)963-3150. Thank you so much for your continued support!

Update: Vocational training program in Pakistan

We have had over 100 more women participate in the vocational training program since our last update, just shy of our goal to reach 1,000 women in 2014! It is our hope and desire to reach more women in 2015 by training other trainers and utilizing mobile technology as teaching tools. Please help us ensure that Pakistan is no longer the second lowest ranked country of women in the workforce. Let us make sure that women can gain skills and contribute to family and community income to break the cycle of poverty and live more financial secure, educated, and healthy lives. Women and girls with means and education are more likely to ensure their children are educated, leading to less vulnerability and engagement in extremist activities.

We are very lucky to be among 8 other organizations with access to over $20,000 remaining in matched funds from Safer World Foundation. Help us maximize this opportunity and see your donor dollars go further. Safer World provides a 50% match for the vocational training program until the funding pool is used! Please share this opportunity with your friends and family that you think might be interested in supporting a project like this and seeing their support matched.
