We're pleased to share that we successfully concluded another school year! It was an academic year not without its challenges - We faced poor conditions in much needed extra space of one of the schools, delayed uniform and text book delivery at both, and ongoing issues accessing electricity due to frequent and prolonged power outages that are so common in these areas without proper energy sources to power fans, lighting, and equipment. That said, teachers, staff, and students are dedicated and persist in the face of adversity. Staff members found local organizations willing to help pitch in such as Lions Club and Rotary. A new Head Teacher at Barakahu is uniting the team at that school in powerful ways, and a new Director of Operations is providing innovative new strategies to support the success and sustainability of the schools and other Moqah Foundation activities. With the recently secured local registration, we're not able to accept funds directly through Moqah Foundation in Pakistan and are happy to see individuals in Pakistan supporting the schools and youth of their district financially and with much needed materials. We will continue to seek local partnership with organizations that are willing to donate or subsidize uniforms, books, furniture, and technology to support school activities. If you have any suggestions or would like to share this with others, the beneficiaries of MDF programs would be most appreciative!
In April i had the distinct pleasure of visiting our school facilities and re-connecting with the students and teachers. It brought tears to my eyes to see the eagerness and earnestness reflected in the students' faces. They're growing, learning, and take a huge amount of pride in their respective schools. It's because of you that their education has been possible. We hold you incredibly high esteem for previously contributing to this cause. Please feel free to view pictures (link below).

On behalf of the female entrepreneurs that have benefitted and continue to benefit from business skill and vocational training, thank you for your previous support. We are delighted to share that additional 250 women have participated in training in the last quarter. The training occured in Multan in partnership with the Lions Club. We have received great feedback from the entrepreneurs that have participated and the women who are engaged in Peace of the Action, the social enterprise created to help women get specific products into the international marketplace. One of the entrepreneurs shared, "My husband has a heart condition and we have two daughters...i am so thankful for the opportunity to gain access to skills that allow me to double and triple my income". We also have achieved local registration status in Pakistan, which allows Pakistani citizens to benefit tax-wise by donating and qualifying for other forms of funding and grants! We plan to scale the program, pending funding in 2014. To view more pictures, please visit our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/MarshallDirectFund?ref=br_tf. Please also see this wonderful video recently taken that shows the first product launched by a handful of the entrepreneurs that have graduated from the vocational training program http://vimeo.com/92196919.

Thank you on behalf of the students, entrepreneurs and MDF staff!
We have had a busy few months. Students at MDF schools celebrated Iqbal (national poet), Kashmir Day, Valentine's, and International Volunteer day. Lectures on health and sanitation were provided and a health club at one of the schools started! Founder of the nonprofit, Silbi Stainton visited the students, teachers, and staff late fall and was so happy to see all proud and strong. Teachers have received some extra workshops on best practices and behavior management. In December both schools started terminal examinations. Students will be preparing for another round of exams to take place end of March.
Marshall Direct Fund is happy to report that we have finally secured local registration in Pakistan. Our Pakistani organizational name, Moqah, means "opportunity" in Urdu. We want all deserving youth and young women to have opportunities for a better future and believe there is no better way to ensure this than through education. WIth local registration secured, Pakistani's and local organizations will now qualify for tax benefits. We are actively seeking local organizations able to donate or subsidize uniforms, books, USP generators, and technology to support staff needs and operations. There will be new opportunities for the organization and its beneficiaries! Thank you for your previous support. We welcome you to stay involved.
