At EDV we believe that to provide meaningful relief and reconstruction assistance to disaster affected communities around the world we have to do more than reconstruct buildings. We need to understand and address the factors that made a community vulnerable to the disaster in the first place. Our work will be organised with these factors in mind so that we can affect change that far outlives our presence.

Programs

European Disaster Volunteers (EDV) is a volunteer driven charity that aids disaster affected communities worldwide by helping them achieve sustainable recovery. Our origins are European but our approach is global - we welcome all volunteers and donors whatever their nationality. We're currently working in Port au Prince, Haiti, following the devastating earthquake in January, 2010 helping communities recovery in the long-term and become more self sufficient.
