Programs

Our education program helps students attend primary and secondary school, vocational school, and university. We also offer special education, job placement services, a day care, extracurricular tutoring classes, and emotional support through youth groups. In 2014, 3,104 children are attending school because of Common Hope. Additionally, 1,579 children benefited from a higher quality of education thanks to our School Partner Initiative, which has expanded to seven area public schools. On November 8, 2014, we celebrated 144 high school graduates. Our health care program includes basic health care and preventive health education, dental care, prenatal education, a pharmacy, nutrition services, lab services, and community health fairs. In 2014, our clinic staff consulted with more than 8,000 patients for things like diabetes, nutritional deficiencies, and cervical cancer. Our housing program allows affiliated families to earn a house through sweat-equity hours. In addition, families can work to earn a stove, latrine, cement floor, and utilities such as water, drainage, and electricity. The stoves in particular work to prevent fires and burns; also, by reducing the emission of harmful smoke, they diminish the prevalence of respiratory diseases among children and adults. In 2014, a total of 25 homes were built, and 39 additional housing improvements were earned by families. Our family development program provides a long-term relationship with a Common Hope social worker, with whom families identify obstacles and goals and create their own unique development plan. In 2014, social workers made an average of 511 visits each month to the 1,623 families that partner with us.
