Fundacion Capital recognizes choice as a fundamental right, a critical ingredient for social justice and the key to reducing poverty sustainably and on a massive scale. Our vision is of an economy that allows the vulnerable to choose how to use their resources; one in which they are offered every opportunity to accumulate and improve their assets, and where the assets they already possess are valued fairly by society.

Programs

1. LittleBigMoney is the first crowdfunding platform in Latin America that supports small and growing businesses that generate social impact in their communities. To learn more about LittleBigMoney, visit www.littlebigmoney.org 2. The Capital Project is an effort to expand financial access, ultimately seeking the financial inclusion of millions of families in conditions of poverty. To achieve this goal, the project works with governments in Latin America and the Caribbean to implement public policies that include programs for social protection and financial inclusion. In particular, the project links savings with conditional cash transfer programs, encouraging beneficiaries to receive their transfers from programs such as Opportunities in Mexico,Families in Action in Colombia, and the Human Development Bond in Ecuador, directly into personal savings accounts. 3. The term "graduation" has different meanings in the social policy sphere and because of this there are many different forms of interventions using the graduation name, all with different reaches and limitations. The primary meanings for graduation, which are the principal force orienting the Graduation Project at Fundacion Capital, are (1) a "reactive" graduation strategy, designed to help extreme poor families lift themselves out of extreme poverty, which implies entering into a more favorable condition in which, although they still live on low-incomes, they are able to begin income-earning activities that allow them to improve their quality of life and demonstrate resilience in the face of adverse situations; and (2) a"preventive" graduation strategy, designed to prevent vulnerable families who receive conditional cash transfers (CCTs) from falling back into extreme poverty when the transfers end. 4. Colombia LISTA is a pilot project implemented in 2012 by Fundacion Capital, an institution that is testing innovative channels to reach low-income persons, in particular those inhabiting rural areas, with tools that facilitate their access to the formal financial system and help them make better financial decisions. 5. Assets and Connections: Remittances create opportunities for investment and savings for many rural women. Assets & Connections (A&C) provides tools for these women to take advantage of such opportunities, providing access to savings and other financial services and stimulating the use of remittances in developing business endeavors.
