DSRA EDUCATIONAL & WELFARE TRUSTPROGRESS REPORT NO 5 - 15 DECEMBER 2014 SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE
With the approach of the New Year 2015, we wish our sponsors and well wishers a blessed New Year and we pray that this year brings peace, prosperity and success in their way. The year 2015 is a very important year for us as we plan to start construction of a multistorey building for our Second Project in Junejo Town. Due to the trust, patronage, support and encouragement by you and our well wishers, the project team and staff have worked hard to provide quality education to our students and we are pleased to see good results in the Mid Term Exams held in November. We have noticed increase in the interest taken by uneducated parents in Parent Teachers Meetings which are held regularly. At Present the strength of students is 253 and 48 students will be admitted in the next Academic Year starting in April, 2015.To improve the language skill, the regular annual spellathon competition was held and most of the children scored above 90% marks. To improve the recitation skill amongst the students, Qirat Competition was held in which 24 students participated and 6 were given cash awards. School outing was organised and 131 children of Nursery to Class IV were taken to Karachi Zoo. For most of the children it was their first visit. The children were thrilled to see so many animals. They also enjoyed various rides in the Playland area of the Zoo. 70 children from Class V to IX visited the PAF Museum. It was a very informative visit. The school has been upgraded to the Secondary level. Our first batch of 3 students who appeared in the Matriculation Examination have scored ‘A’ grade and have taken admission in Zamzama Government College. Two students in the Pre Engineering group and Faiza Ghaffar in the Pre Medical group. Here is what Faiza says” I have 7 brothers and 5 sisters. I am the third youngest child in the family. I could not afford to go to a good school. No one in my family has ever attended college. My dream is to become a doctor. The DSRA Trust School has given me quality education of a high standard and confidence and that is how I am in college today. I hope to make my dream come true”. Inview of large demand of free quality education for children of underprivilged families, our plan for the future is to contineously expand our activities in institution established at door step to their areas of residence. As our project is community based, we receive frequent reports of the interest generated in educating their children. In addition we provide job opportunities to the educated women as teachers and staff of the school. Although we are trying our best to provide quality education to the poor children to bring a change in their lives, we would welcome suggestions for improvement and also how we can work together to attract wider suport
