The New Year 2015 started with a lot of challenge for our project. We had recently upgraded the 1st school to Secondary Level and started 3 classes in the 2nd school with make shift arrangements and started preparatory work for construction of a multistorey building. A very sad incident of brutal killing of a large number of students and teachers occured at a school in Peshawar. We organised prayers for the departed souls participated by all the staff and students. The government of Sindh issued directive to schools to adopt all security measures to avoid any miscreant entering the school or loitering around in areas close to the school. Sindh Government also extended the winter vacation to enable schools to take the desired security measures. On reopening of the schools, the staff and students were not scared and worked hard to cover the syllabus missed out due to extension of winter vacation. We are all endeavoring to maintain high standard of education comparable to the best private English Medium schools of the Metropolitan. With the upgradation of the school to Secondary Level the senior students of classes IX and X will take the Secondary Board Examination in April, 2015.

The Admission Tests for new entrants were held in January and 24 students in each school selected through merit are being admitted. As the end of the current Academic Session is approaching, the end of Academic Year class parties were held in March 2015. The Annual Examination of all classes are being held w.e.f 12 March 2015. The results will be announced on 4th April 2015 and New Academic Year will start on 6th April 2015.

PROGRESS REPORT NO 5 - 15 DECEMBER 2014
SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE

With the approach of the New Year 2015, we wish our sponsors and well wishers a blessed New Year and we pray that this year brings peace, prosperity and success in their way. The year 2015 is a very important year for us as we plan to start construction of a multistorey building for our Second Project in Junejo Town. Due to the trust, patronage, support and encouragement by you and our well wishers, the project team and staff have worked hard to provide quality education to our students and we are pleased to see good results in the Mid Term Exams held in November. We have noticed increase in the interest taken by uneducated parents in Parent Teachers Meetings which are held regularly. At Present the strength of students is 253 and 48 students will be admitted in the next Academic Year starting in April, 2015.
To improve the language skill, the regular annual spellathon competition was held and most of the children scored above 90% marks. To improve the recitation skill amongst the students, Qirat Competition was held in which 24 students participated and 6 were given cash awards. School outing was organised and 131 children of Nursery to Class IV were taken to Karachi Zoo. For most of the children it was their first visit. The children were thrilled to see so many animals. They also enjoyed various rides in the Playland area of the Zoo. 70 children from Class V to IX visited the PAF Museum. It was a very informative visit.
The school has been upgraded to the Secondary level. Our first batch of 3 students who appeared in the Matriculation Examination have scored ‘A’ grade and have taken admission in Zamzama Government College. Two students in the Pre Engineering group and Faiza Ghaffar in the Pre Medical group. Here is what Faiza says” I have 7 brothers and 5 sisters. I am the third youngest child in the family. I could not afford to go to a good school. No one in my family has ever attended college. My dream is to become a doctor. The DSRA Trust School has given me quality education of a high standard and confidence and that is how I am in college today. I hope to make my dream come true”.
Inview of large demand of free quality education for children of underprivilged families, our plan for the future is to contineously expand our activities in institution established at door step to their areas of residence. As our project is community based, we receive frequent reports of the interest generated in educating their children. In addition we provide job opportunities to the educated women as teachers and staff of the school. Although we are trying our best to provide quality education to the poor children to bring a change in their lives, we would welcome suggestions for improvement and also how we can work together to attract wider suport

PROGRESS REPORT NO 4

SUBJECT: PROJECT REPORT FOR EDUCATE A CHILD CHANGE A LIFE

With the kind support, generosity and dedication of our well wishers the project is progressing well and the Trust is carrying out the objective of providing free quality education to 203 students in Defence Branch and 53 students in the new school in Junejo Town for the children of underprivileged families and also to continuously extend our facilities to accommodate additional students. We are admitting 24 students in each school at the start of the new Academic Year in April . We are steadfast in our vision to bring a positive change in the lives of the underprivileged families through education of their children. Inspite of hardship due to abnormal inflation and increase in price of uniform, books,, stationery and other support material and increase in salary of teachers, the Trust is managing the affairs of the school satisfactorily and carrying out a strict control on its expenses which was appreciated by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) who revaluated our performance in 80 Parameters in Internal Governance, Financial Management and Programme Delivery and upgraded our overall score of 83% in 2010 to 94% in 2013.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES:

We are glad to report that our Defence Branch has been upgraded to Secondary Level by the Education Department and our recognition by the Board of Secondary Education is under process. We have started Class IX, established a science lab and submitted enrolment forms for 10 students to the Board of Secondary Education. Our first batch of students who were admitted in Tooba High School appeared in Matric Examination and all 3 girls got Grade A. The result of our second batch of three students who took the Class IX Board Exam is expected soon. Both the schools reopened after vacations in August. The Independence Day function was celebrated enthusiastically. After the flag hoisting ceremony, students delivered short speeches on the significance of the day. The students also presented tableaus and national songs on this occasion. Chocolates were given to the children. It was a very enjoyable function. Eid Fun Fair was held at the school premises on 3rd August. There were many food and games stalls arranged by teachers and students of senior classes. The Fun Fair was also attended by mothers of all the students. A Picnic Party at Cozy Water Park located near Super Highway was organized. The favourite slides included the Tube Slide, Transparent tunnel and the giant slide that zips you down 250 feet

PROGRESS OF CIVIL WORKS OF NEW SCHOOL BUILDING:

The constructional work for our purpose build school is progressing well. After sub soil investigation upto depth of 65-80 feet, the approval of Architectural drawings was obtained from the Sind Building Control Authority (SBCA) and then structural drawings were submitted, which are being vetted by SBCA appointed Engineer. In the meantime the Piling Contract was awarded at approx cost of Rs 7.5 Million (US $ 75,000). The Architect is now working on tender documents for construction of 3 storey building for the first school with an approx covered area of 9000 sq ft.
