Mission

TREE MUSKETEERS was founded in 1987 by a group of third graders as the world's first youth environmental organization. Its mission is to empower young people to become environmental leaders. Our goals are to create a healthy Earth, inspire youth leadership, establish global collaborations and engage the public.

Programs

TREE MUSKETEERS' programs include the Hometown Program in El Segundo, CA - a hands-on opportunity for young executives to engage other kids in urban forestry, youth leadership and public education projects. The young entrepreneurs then share these replicable models for implementation in other hometowns through their international Partners for the Planet Network. The current thrust in both programs is the "3 x 3 Campaign" a multi-year effort with objectives to document 3 million trees planted by three million kids. Innovative youth-led programs overcome historic differences between businesses and residents, environmentalists and industry, and nonprofit agencies who often compete for turf. TREE MUSKETEERS inspires while setting an example for other youth in the Hometown Program. Through hands-on projects, youth grow as competent individuals, as citizens, and as leaders while resolving local environmental issues. The Partners for the Planet Network is the outreach vehicle to deliver these tools to kids nationwide. It is the pivot point for youth and adults in the nonprofit, private, and public sectors to work together in conserving Earth's resources, and to energize grassroots activism through collaboration among empowered young leaders.
