Zindagi Trust

Our mission is two-part: 1) To provide non-formal primary education through a creative, well-designed curriculum to Pakistan's underprivileged working children, thus empowering them to become responsible citizens as well as readying them for vocational or secondary education. 2) To assist the Government of Pakistan in reforming state schools and curricula so as to bring them at par with the challenges of present time, so that the majority of the country's youth that studies in them can get an equal opportunity at a bright future.

Academic Activities in I Am Paid to Learn Schools

Before sharing an overview on the academics in PTL schools across Pakistan, Zindagi Trust thanks all its donors, well wishers and contributors for their full support and contribution.

Recent academic term for Paid-to-learn Schools across Pakistan started in November, 2010. An intake of around 480 children got admission in PTL schools across Pakistan. A total number of 250 students graduated and 100 students were successful in getting admission in grade 6 in different private and government schools.  It would be really heartening to know that since start of 2010, drop out ratio has dropped to 6%, which is much below the national drop out figure i.e. 50%

At this juncture i.e. beginning March, we are at the end of the academic term. Teachers and academic coordinators are engaged in preparing students’ consolidated report based on their on-going assessment. In March students will appear in the summative assessment and the term will end with promotions of students to next grades.

Apart from the content of the syllabus, academic team is very much focused on the ethical and emotional development of PTL students. The progress report comprises ethical and emotional development of each child as well.

Aforementioned initiatives and achievements raise our morale. We believe that it is all because of our donors’ support and good wishes. Zindagi Trust is obliged and proud of its donors.

We look forward to our donors continued support and an active participation in terms of suggestions and guidance.

Position holders live up to expected progress

The management of Zindagi Trust acknowledges the important role of its donors and well wishers who has joined hands with us to eradicate illiteracy.  With their support our primary graduated students are now studying in Mainstream Secondary Schools.

Zindagi Trust students in the government and private sectors schools across Pakistan have made great progress in their schools. This is evident from the monthly reports of their teachers and principals.

It is heartening to know that position holders live up to expected progress in the new environment as well. Apart from their academic performance, Zindagi Trust students are recognized for their punctuality, regularity and cooperativeness amongst their class fellows.

Zindagi Trust Regional Academic Teams stay in touch with the students and encourage them during monthly meetings towards showing good academic performance and confidently practicing social skills.

Above mentioned achievements motivate us and all those working with us to believe that nothing is impossible.

A big Thank you to our donors and well-wishers for their tremendous support!

Good Nutrition is the Bedrock of Lifelong Health

Zindagi Trust Management proudly shares with their donors that the Breakfast program has entered its third phase where children have started practicing, how to fetch breakfast from the counter following a laid down drill. Through this drill children are moulded in to a disciplined and civil member of the society. We believe that children need to be drilled to accept and follow laid down boundaries early in age so as to become law abiding citizens of the future.

We also appreciate children’s parents’ support which guides us about their children’s habits and the way to deal with. Parents’ comments are very encouraging in terms of their children’s health. They feel that their children now avoid eating junk food from the street’s vendors. They also realize the fact that healthy choices at early ages support children to make them healthy and they are able to take positive decisions as they grow. Breakfast program has proven that establishing healthy habits in childhood can promote behavior changes capable of lasting a lifetime.

Finally, Zindagi Trust with this slogan “Good nutrition is the bedrock of lifelong health”, is thankful to all its donors, parents and well-wishers because without their support it could not have been possible
