More Perimeter Built

We have built more wall since the last report.

The current Governor issued a quit claim order on all school lands so that the children of owners that donated the land can no longer pester the Princiapls for money. This has worked and the Prinicipal said they now have peace.

In order for work not to stop, Mrs. Olaosebikan (link 3) made personal effort offline seeking donations from her contacts. All funds collected through Global Givinig and offline have been given to the school and used for the purpose perimeter fencing. Parents of current female students have been levied as well.

The campus is big and requires more funds. The children are very happy and the impact of what has been done already is very posititve. They no longer feel neglected or unwanted. This as also helped us to insist on continuous quality improvement on their academic work.

I intend to go and see the project myself in October. They just held the 82nd anniversary of the school on June 30th, more alumni were brought together for possible involvement.

So built we the WALL!

I personally visited the school in October from 17-19, 2014. I walked through the areas that should be fenced.

I was introduced to the Engineer in Charge who assured me that work would commence on Monday, Ocotber 20, 2014.

Work has started on the promised date, but the funds are almost used up.I have attached pictures.

There were two more break-ins since the time this project was uploaded.

The problem with the school's land ownership has been resolved. Documentation were provided by the Anglican Communion and from the archives of Western Region, Nigeria. The claimants have stopped building illegal structures.

Two  Alumni classes(1964 and 1974) teamed up to repair the School Chapel mentioned in this project. Though not part of this project, it increased the can-do resolve of the alumni.

The Principal contacted me this morning to let me know they received the Naira equivalent of $1,000. That raised her siprit and assured her that the work would not stop.

Landmark Re-established

We were happy young girls in the school
We were happy young girls in the school

We have transferred 340,000 naira ($2,125) into the school's fence project account.  We established committees to see how we can raise more funds. Since the date of this project, another break-in occurred. The thieves stole 69 laptops belonging to the school.  When the students resume from school break, there will be nothing to teach them computer courses. I sent the report to all alumni in our database, there are many verbal pledges waiting to materialise.

We contacted the State concerning land squatters and encroachment on the school property. We were able to provide land acquisition agreement from 1931 and further land acquisition with survey from 1958 to the Arbitration Team. The State has now re-established the pillars, thus making it illegal for anybody aside from Christ's School Girls' Section to build on it. This move is an assurance that we can build without fear of attack from squatters.

The State has now given us the go ahead to begin fencing .
