Programs

SpaceVision - The world's largest student run space conference. This national event regularly has over 300 students from across the country attend to learn about the current state of the space industry, build connections with their peers, build knowledge in STEM fields, hear from industry leaders and top NASA officials and more. This event takes place at a different site in the United States each year. National High Powered Rocketry Challenge - The National High Powered Rocketry Challenge challanges teams with designing, building, and flying a rocket from the ground up that can carry a 3.0 pound (1.36kg) payload to 10,000 ft. as quickly as possible. Teams from around the country compete in this competition to build Engineering and technical skills and learn about the design process. The competition provides an incentive to build and develop rocketry and Aerospace skills. Student NewSpace Business Plan Competition - the Student NewSpace Business Plan Competition seeks out proposals for space industry or space-scalable businesses from students who would like to pitch their idea to NewSpace investors and business leaders. This competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students from any university or college and more than one team is allowed from each university. It is highly encouraged that engineers and scientists work with business students to fulfill both the product development and proposal writing portions of the competition. High Frontier Distribution Project - SEDS-USA Space Frontier Foundation High Frontier Distribution Project is a joint educational outreach project between the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space USA and the Space Frontier Foundation to distribute copies of the 2nd edition of The High Frontier: Human Colonies in Space to high school and university libraries across the country currently lacking a copy. Darrell D. Cain Award of Excellence - This award honors the late SEDS Board Member Darrell Cain, who was able to impact many through his efforts and inspire others to pursue the cause of space exploration. This individual has embodied the spirit of SEDS, through their individual efforts striving to inspire students across the country. Their impact has not been limited to the scope of their work with the organization but instead reached far beyond. This annual scholarship is awarded to a deserving candidate each year at SpaceVision.
