Programs

SERVICES OFFERED Orphan Care, After School Centers, Child Care Forum, OVC Development, Capacity Building, Mentoring and Training, Children's Empowerment PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS Children's Empowerment Program CCW will visit children in their homes to ensure a basic level of child wellbeing including emotional and physical heath, hygiene, household functioning and consistent attention to education. SW present activities to support and empower children. They provide children with individual counseling, support groups, youth camps, and puppet shows. SW engage other relevant service providers to assist with foster care placements and child protection. A range or workshops are offered to the beneficiaries throughout the year. Topics include child abuse, HIV and AIDS, gender equality and teenage pregnancy. Education Program Heartbeat is unequivocally committed to our beneficiaries educational rights and responsibilities. In order to facilitate the youth's academic pursuits, we offer a range of services from Early Childhood Development to homework assistance, holiday school and tertiary support. School uniforms and stationery are distributed to the beneficiaries, Heartbeat staff lobby for all children to be exempt from school fees and the community based after school centers offer children a safe place to learn and play. Access program To ensure that children are able to attain their most basic human rights, the Access program run by a CDF, lobbies for community participation and decreased barriers to social services. The programs scope includes facilitating applications for birth certificates, identity documents, school fee exemptions and social grants. CDF's are also responsible for enabling access to health care, basic shelter and utilities such as water and electricity. The role of the CDF and Access Department is integral in decreasing vulnerable children's marginalization and the potential invisibility they face in the community.
