ACRO Ghana

Prison is supposed to reform people sent there. In Ghana; they come out hardened due to inadequate training facilities and Judges failing to follow up their imprisonment. Ex- convicts have no social systems which help them to re-integrate in society. Juvenile prisoners are active in sports whilst in confinement, pick interests and re-integrate into community sports to associate and find new friends. ACRO Ghana communities then, support them through training.

Programs

Our approach to reach out is holistic, parents are engaged in farming to improve nutrition and household incomes. Football, and “Ampe” a traditional girl’s game, are used in communities to attract girls and soften the hearts of parents you might think football is a men’s game. The youth then are taught new way of life devoid of Aids, drugs and crime. The football in Prison is solely organised by the Prison Authorities.
