The Avicenna Group

The Avicenna Group was established in April, 2011, after the outbreak of the Libyan Revolution. Our initial mission was to support medical-trauma capacity building; since summer of 2012, our work has expanded into medical capacity-building across the board, particularly through facilitating partnerships between US medical institutions (teaching hospitals, nursing centers, specialist clinics and universities) and Libyan counterparts, and small-scale grants to grassroots medical programs, to support awareness building and early-stage program-building.
